Privacy Policy

Charbit.ai (“Charbit”, “we”, “us”) is an AI companion app where you chat with AI characters. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Charbit you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Account — your email, and (if you sign in with Google) your name and profile picture. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash.
Content you create — characters, profiles, posts, and the “memory” facts your companions remember.
Chat history & uploads — your conversations and any images or files you send. See “Where your chats live” below.
Voice samples — if you clone a voice, the short reference recording you provide.
Approximate location — only when you tap Share location. We use it once to look up nearby places and never store it on our servers.
Basic technical data — standard request logs needed to run and secure the service.

2. Where your chats live

Free accounts are local-first. Your conversations and the images in them are stored on your own device (in your browser) and are not uploaded to our servers. You can view how much space they use, and clear them, in Settings → Data. Clearing your browser data or switching devices will remove that history.

Paid (Charbit+) accounts may additionally store chat history on our servers so it syncs across devices. You can delete it at any time.

3. How we use your information

To provide the service: generate AI replies, speech, and character behavior.
To let your companions remember relevant facts (the “memory” feature).
To operate, secure, debug, and improve the product.
To communicate with you about your account.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Service providers we share data with

To deliver features, limited data is processed by:

OpenAlchemy AI platform — your messages, uploaded images/files, and voice samples are sent to our AI backend to generate responses, transcriptions, and cloned voices.
Google Sign-In — if you choose to log in with Google.
OpenStreetMap & BigDataCloud — when you share a location, your coordinates are sent to convert them into a place name and find nearby points of interest.
Cloud hosting & storage (e.g. Google Cloud Storage) — for character images you upload publicly.

5. Cloned voices & user content

You may only clone a voice you own or have explicit permission to use. You are responsible for the characters and content you create. We may remove content that violates our Terms or the law.

6. Data retention & your choices

Delete local chat history any time in Settings → Data (free accounts).
Delete characters, voices, and memory from within the app.
Request deletion of your account and associated server-side data by contacting us.

7. Children

Charbit is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from them.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
